Museum launches new digital offerings with Call-a-Curator, Pop-Up Studio

Content offers additional ways to engage with the museum at home  

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. (April 3, 2020)-Reynolda House Museum of American Art has launched a new series, Call-a-Curator, and revived its popular education series, Pop-Up Studio. The content is another way for the public to engage with Reynolda at home. 

Reynolda team members share fresh perspectives on art and history through their Call-a-Curator videos, which are packaged as informative, visual phone calls that shed light on new aspects of the estate, its collections, and its storied history. 

Call-a-Curator, Episode 1: Katharine’s Healthy Habits
Director of Archives and Library Bari Helms takes viewers back to the early 19th century and chronicles the estate’s relationship with germs and illness. 

Call-a-Curator, Episode 2: Anna Dorothea Foster and Charlotte Anna Dick
Curator Allison Slaby shines a light on the Museum’s latest acquisition by the most renowned portraitist of America’s early national period, Gilbert Stuart. 

In the Pop-Up Studio series for kids, Manager of School and Family Learning Julia Hood offers ideas for home-based art education and learning.

Pop-Up Studio: Mail Art, Chapter 1 illustrates how to send a letter to someone special through the addition of stationary. 

Videos are shared on the museum’s social media platforms and through its YouTube channel, youtube.com/reynolda. Reynolda continues to offer its Object of the Month lectures at home for members and will announce a new virtual program offering for the public next week.
