Winston-Salem
Take Your Time, There’s a Lot to Discover
Reynolda is rooted in the City of Arts and Innovation: Winston-Salem, North Carolina. Called one of the South’s best cities on the rise and one of the 14 best places to travel in the U.S., Winston-Salem is a flourishing hub of creativity and exploration, and has one of the fastest-growing innovation districts in the country.
Reynolda is located on the campus of Wake Forest University, one of six renowned, higher-learning institutions in Winston-Salem. Reynolda is proud to exemplify the city’s rich history and arts and cultural offerings through changing art exhibitions and diverse programs. The more than 170-acre historic district comprises the Formal Gardens, grounds, and trails. The area is perfectly suited for the outdoor enthusiast, who will find 79 parks and 25 miles of greenway to explore in the surrounding city. In Reynolda Village, an array of boutique shops and restaurants complement Winston-Salem’s one-of-a-kind shopping opportunities.
We encourage visitors to venture to the nearby Southeastern Center for Contemporary Art to view original art exhibitions or the stArt Gallery in the Village. In the surrounding city, the flourishing creative arts community is enhanced by The Delta Arts Center and The Diggs Gallery, located at Winston-Salem State University.
A short drive downtown will give visitors the opportunity to experience the downtown arts scene, the history of Old Salem Museums & Gardens, and the Museum of Early Southern Decorative Arts (MESDA). Music lovers can enjoy performances from the Winston-Salem Symphony and live music at The Ramkat, while film lovers can enjoy independent film screenings at the a/perture cinema and experience the RiverRun Film Festival, one of the premier film festivals in the Southeast.
Theater buffs will appreciate the awe-inspiring productions offered by the University of North Carolina School of the Arts (UNCSA), a nationally renowned performing arts conservatory, and the National Black Theatre Festival, which features more than 130 dynamic performances across the city, making the festival one of the best in the country. Winston-Salem is also home to a symphony orchestra, a wind symphony, and an opera company—unusual for a city of its size.
