affinities: peter campus and american art

Northeast Bedroom Gallery

A pioneer of the genre of video art, peter campus has explored the potential of new media since 1970. In recent years, his admiration for the work of modernists such as Arthur Dove and Marsden Hartley finds expression in absorbing video works that invite viewers into placid coastal scenes of Long Island, Massachusetts, and the French Atlantic coast. Works by campus, Dove, and Hartley will be presented in support of the exhibition peter campus: video ergo sum, on view this fall at both the Southeastern Center for Contemporary Art (SECCA) and the Hanes Art Gallery of Wake Forest University.
